I invented these glasses out of a need to have a pair of sunglasses that would stay in place while playing an aggressive sport like outdoor basketball. Here in the Arizona desert, playing outdoor basketball during the summer without sunglasses makes your eyes feel like you've been watching an arc welder. My eyes were being burned and I was having bad headaches by the end of the day. Living in the desert you learn a lot about sunglasses and how essential they are.

No problem, just go to your local sporting goods store and get a pair of "athletic sunglasses", right?….Wrong! All that was available was just ordinary sunglasses, just like the ones I see smashed on the basketball court all the time. Some sunglasses had a strap that wrapped around the back of the head. The problem with these sunglasses is that when you get them tight enough to stay on your head, the nosepiece is digging into the bridge of your nose. Also, you can't wipe the sweat from your face without taking the glasses completely off, an inconvenience during the heat of the game.

After visiting the local sport shops, it became clear that they all carried the same old stuff. If I wanted a "real" pair of athletic sunglasses, I would have to design and build one for myself. After all, I'm a mechanical engineer….I can do this, right?

That was the decision that started the TecSpecs journey. Four years of research and development and three patents later, plus countless proto-types tested under actual game conditions, have culminated into the TecSpecs you see today. TecSpecs have been tested by world class professional athletes in basketball, volleyball, snowboarding, and skiing.
